Peer Mentoring is a highly successful, peer-directed program for adolescents with Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) and High-Functioning Autism (HFA). Our trained peer mentors help children with invisible challenges to blend with their peers so they can better interface with their friends and classmates.

Fundraising Goal for 2008 (extending the program to 20 children): $260,000
Teamwork Wins’ school-based consulting and training services provides local schools with a trained Autism specialist who works with administration, faculty, staff and students to ensure children with invisible challenges get the help they need. This may include consulting services, trainings, in-services and seminars. We are currently working in three Montgomery County school districts, and hope to expand our program to the remaining 17 within the next five years.

Trained mentors provide one-on-one guidance for individuals and/or families who are ready to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings and actions. A mentor can teach clients the skills necessary to function in today’s classrooms, playgrounds and workplaces.

The ASD SPECTRUM Project (grant-funded program) teams up with Gwynedd-Mercy College (GMC), a leading college of early childhood and special education, to provide a quality program that provides early identification of Invisible Challenges. This gives children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD and other Invisible Challenges the opportunity to be included and accepted so they can thrive in a welcoming and safe preschool environment.
