College Readiness Program

FOR college students on “BREAK”

The College Connection – A program designed for college students who are sensitive and having a difficult time adjusting to college life. TWW will provide services and unique opportunities to help these students, between the ages of 18-21 to achieve and sustain independence while becoming self-directed young adults. It’s about assisting students in feeling comfortable with their college peers in a college environment. This program offers experiential and exploratory opportunities for students to learn:

•             Age-appropriate communication skills

  • Acceptance of others and college life.

•             Increase self-advocacy abilities with other college students in a relaxed informal setting.

•             Organization and issues with perfectionism.

•             Staying on topic and getting their thoughts together.

•             Misperceptions about college peers and all the things that student experiences in a social setting

FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Students with ASD transitioning to college

Teamwork Wins Ltd (TWW) in collaboration with school districts is implementing a community based transitional program for students diagnosed/symptoms with Asperger’s and High Functioning Autism, in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. TWW will provide services and unique opportunities to help transition-age students prepare for college life. This program offers experiential and exploratory opportunities for students to learn age-appropriate communication skills and increase self-advocacy abilities in a college setting. The goal of the program is for students to achieve and sustain independence while becoming self-directed young adults after graduation.

Teamwork Wins’ ASD Program has three components:

1.  TWW provides trained collegiate peer mentors @ the college/university.  The peer mentors will escort individual students to various locations on campus and educate them about campus life. A TWW Masters Level Autism Specialist will facilitate and supervise the program.

2.  TWW trained collegiate peer mentors and the ASD students will attend a social group to discuss issues with perfectionism, organization, inferencing, staying on topic, getting their thoughts out on paper thru writing.

3.   TWW will work in conjunction with the students and parents – Taking parents through the “When to guide your young-adult child and when to let go” process.
